must change. The track will be open Thursday and will again be closed for
Friday the 23rd March, 2018 due to further track works.
Attention All members - Track will be closed this Thursday and Friday being the
14th and 15th March due to track works. Will re open as per normal on
Saturday morning. Remember non GKC members will pay a $40 practise fee!
Practise Fees Will Apply To Non Geelong Members Until Completion of Vic Open
As of 08/03/2018 until the completion of the Victorian Open on April 8th
Practise fees will apply to all non Geelong Members. There will be no
exceptions! The Fee will be $40 per driver . Families will pay
$50.00 regardless of how many children per day. The cost of cleaning up
rubbish , tyres and maintenace after big test days has cost the club thousands
of dollars and in the current climate cannot be continued without cost. Please
note GKC was the only club that did not charge practise fees in 2017 after
hosting a round of the national championships and this ended up costing us
several thousand dollars in clean up fees. There is of course a great cost
effective option of joining the club instead of paying practise fees.
Unfortunately the current climate in karting has given the club no choice but to
charge these fees prior to major events.
The Val Findlay Memorial Race Meeting will be going ahead as per normal.
Entries are open right up until Friday night on CMS so please get your entry
in now. There was an issue with CMS today outside of the clubs control
which made the race meeting disapear from CMS for much of today. This
has been rectified by KA thank goodness. This will be a great race meet and
a super tune up for the state title which is being at Geelong on April 6 to 8.
Clubday this weekend guys!!!!!
Come down and race and get ready for next weekends Val Findlay Memorial
two day race meeting and then in early April 6-8 the first round of the Victorian

membership system. So for now back to normal until we notify you guys that
the new system is working for all.

Open Tag 125
The push to get Open Tag 125 Light and Heavy is on at Geelong. The class has run many of the clubdays this year and with some of our best restricted drivers making the move up the class is set to expand. This is a great class to run and appears to now be the premier catergory in karting. In 2018 we will be setting approximately six dates ( rounds ) for the championship in these classes. With some clubdays clashing with state and national title rounds this makes sense. So lets get Tag 125 going and make it a regular on the Geelong Karting Calendar.
Please note that as per Geelong Kart Club policy there will be no July Clubday. This is our Mid Year Break and it gives everyone including officials a chance to do something else on what is traditionally our coldest / wet clubday of the year.
Its a great chance to go try out another track or just have a break. We will of course be back in August so we would like to see you guys all ready to rumble for August.
Please remember to pre enter of CMS for the remaining events of the year. Its saves you guys $5 per entry and helps the club officials organise the club event.

When installed they must be used. There will be three lights - Green ( 7 mins of practise ) Orange ( 2 minutes warning drivers that session is coming to end ) and Red ( 1 Minute where drivers must return to in grid ).
IMPORTANT NOTICE RE AUTOMATED GATE ( WHEN LEAVING GEELONG TRACK )
As you are all aware when leaving the Geelong Kart Club pits the eletronic gate opens automatically when your vehicle stops outside the gate. This will no longer occur. Due to security concerns of non members entering circuit using illegal means the gate will no longer open automatically. Members will have to exit vehicle and swipe the internal card reader to open the gate. This has already commenced.
IMPORTANT NOTICE RE TRACK CLOSURE

Securepay Now Operational on CMS for Geelong Kart Club
All members please take note that from today onwards all race meetings including clubdays, entries are to be entered via CMS system. As with all race meetings CMS closes for entries at midnight on the Wednesday before the race meet unless listed otherwise in the Supp Regs. After much work GKC now has the securepay system working and you will have to prepay your entry at the time you enter on CMS for the system to accept your entry. This is a great system and a far more professional way to accept entry payments. The Val Findlay Memorial is the first meeting where securepay will be required, so get used to it - its very easy to use and will save us all a lot of time. Please do not attempt to pay race entries with cheques as this will be declined! Geelong Kart Club have elected to not charge any extra fees to the karter for this system.
Front Gate Now Working Again
As some of you are aware our electric gate was vandalised just prior to the Australian Championship round late 2015. After a lot of organising a new motor and system has been installed. The cards you have will still work and the gate is once again closed - entry via swipe card. The gate has been set to open at a slower rate for reliability reasons, so be patient. As per normal you just drive up to the gate on your way out and it will open automatically for you.
Vandels Strike Race Tower
Once again some peanut has broken one of the glass windows of our race tower by throwing a rock through it. It has been repaired already. If anyone has any information about any incidents of damage please let a club official know. Be vigilant for your club , if you see anybody inside the complex acting suspiciously or who you believe isnt a member , ask them their reason for being at the track - if in doubt call Dominic or Dennis.
March Clubday will not be held due to the easter holiday weekend. Too many officials and members are away and its only fair not to hold on this date. Also we have three race meetings in five weeks at Geelong in the April period so will be a good break for everyone. Dont forget Val Findlay , Victorian State Championship Series Round 2 and April clubday all close together. See you at the track.
IMPORTANT - TRACK WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY 8th FEB, TUESDAY 9th FEB and WEDNESDAY 10th FEB due to urgent track works , digging and line marking etc. TRACK WILL BE RE OPEN THURSDAY MORNING AS PER NORMAL ON TEH 11th FEB.
The first clubday of 2016 will be at the end of February, 2016. Further instructions on formats of the club championship will be posted early in January.
Dont forget to check the website regularly for track closures etc. There will be some days when track is hired out or works are being conducted , so remember
to check the site. The clubroom extension is sceduled for late January so there will be some disruption while this occurs.
TRACK CLOSURE - TRACK WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY 21st DECEMBER 2015 ALL DAY FOR WORKS.
THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED - NO EXCEPTIONS
The final clubday of the year will be a standalone event designed to give our local karters experience in longer championship style race finals.

The club will once again conduct a long BBQ which has worked very well recently. Drinks and other items can still be purchased as normal. The

You can enter the complex and set up after 8am. Do not break these rules please. You must be out of Beckley Park no later than 6pm. These rules will be enforced...............
Recently our main eletronic gate was vandalised. Some total moron has tied a rope to the gate and force it open causing considerable damage. Make no mistake this matter has been reported to the police and any information will be passed on. Any information that members may have needs to be passed on to Dennis or Dominic. Works have started today on the new pit area that the club obtained two years ago. There will be major earth works and concrete roads/truck bays being installed to bring the new pit area into line with our main internal pit space. This will make our overall pits by far the best in the country and allow all competitors to push their karts to the grid on concrete roads. The karters come first!
There will also be a new fence installed between the tech shed and the medical centre that will allow the club to limit access to the trolley bay area unless required. This will improve safety for kids and others from vehicles.
The works will not disrupt the availability of the track and should take a couple of months all up. Take a look over at the Starters Tower and you will see that it has also been redeveloped in order to keep it at the forefront of technology for the future.

ensure all members that different weights etc will be used to ensure parity as best we can.

CMS PASSWORDS ARE ESSENTIAL
The Geelong Kart Club has been trying for quite some time now to get our members to all have their CMS passwords and to use them to enter clubday and all other race meets. NEW 2014 MOTORS FROM THE AKA
The new replacement motors for Comer/J and S Yamaha are about to be announced by the AKA. Whatever the decision rest assured your club will make sure that our members can continue to race their current engines at our clubdays . Once the announcement is made please contact Dennis or Dom with any concerns you have and we will take those concerns to the state delegates meetings which in turn are heard by the AKA.
NEW STEWARDS ROOM HAS BEEN INSTALLED
In line with our continued improvement plan a new second stewards room has been delivered and installed beside the outgrid. This gives the club greater flexability to keep meetings moving at large opens and stops the requirement for our club to hire in temporary rooms at meetings such as the Victorian Open.
NEW YAMAHA 4 WHEEL MOTORBIKE
The club now has a state of the art 550 CC watercooled 4 wheel bike to tow our trailer which is used for many functions such as taking out the lights etc. Our last Chinese bike has given up the ghost and the new replacement should last our club for many years.
NEW SAFETY LIGHTS
Another improvement has been the installation of five new auto safety lights which come on by themselves when darkness falls. This provides a deterrent to would be thieves and provided safety for members and equipment at race meetings.
NEW FROM ENTRANCE TO BECKLEY PARK
If you have been to the track lately you will have noticed a large amount of work taking place at the Beckley Park entrance to the complex. A new professional complex opening archway displaying the details of all the tenants including the kart club is being erected. This is large and expensive structure which is being paid for by Beckley Park in consultation with the kart club. The finished product will be a massive improvement and a professional entrance for karters visiting our complex. It will be lit up at night further enhancing the clubs location to everyone.

DILLON HOLLIS WINS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN JNL
Geelong Kart Clubs Dillon Hollis is the new 2014 Australian Champion in the highly competitive Junior National Light Class. Dillon took the title at the famous Newcastle Circuit dominating the entire weekend in the class. Dillon's achievement comes as no surprise to us all as he is never far from the front in any race he competes in. The sensational effort was rewarded by Geelong Kart Club with a $1000 cheque at a presentation made at the drivers briefing of the April clubday. Everyone at GKC is extremely proud of Dillons achievement and also congratulate his brother Andrew and father Mark on their outstanding team effort. Well done boys!
ROTAX PRO TOUR IS ON AT GKC THIS WEEKEND ( 23-25 May, 2014 )
We are hosting a round yet again of the Rotax Pro Tour this weekend. We are well organised but still require extra assistance to run the event especially on the Saturday and Sunday. So if are not doing anything drop Dominic or Dennis a line and ask how you can assist your club. Its a team effort and the proceeds of these meetings are used to improve our complex and pay for the continual maintenance of our huge complex.
MEMBERSHIP EXPIRY DATE CHANGES FOR GKC MEMBERS
For many years all club memberships for GKC members have expired on the 31st of the December of each year. As everyones AKA license has different expiry dates it has been quite difficult to keep track of who is licensed etc . Throught 2014 Dominic has been amending all GKC members club membership expiry dates to have them expire on the same day as their license. Both are then renewed at the same time. This makes it easier to manage and remember for all. In most instances members will gain extra time of their club memberships. In the few examples where members have lost a short space of time on their memberships they will have the pro rata amounts deducted from their membership fees the next time they renew. Any queries email dominic on firstname.lastname@example.org
